About Me - Experience

During summer breaks from University I worked in various play schemes across Derby City that catered for children 7 -14 years of age.  I graduated from the University of Wales Bangor in 2003 as a fully qualified primary teacher with a 2.1 Bachelor of Education degree, the course involved numerous teaching placements in both Derbyshire and North Wales.

After graduating I returned to Derby and found working with younger children was much more rewarding and became a nursery nurse at a small, town children’s nursery.  After a short time I moved to a larger, well established nursery on the outskirts of Derby.  For a large part of this I ran a toddler room which was registered for 20 children aged 18 months to 2 ½ years old.

After 3 ½ years, in June 2007, I went on maternity leave to have our son, Toby. Whilst on maternity leave I decided to stay at home with Toby and to start childminding as I felt that I could use my experience to offer other parents a more personalised childcare service.
